商品の説明

全てハンドメイドで作られたインディアンジュエリーです。こちらのピアスはナバホ族のものです。
通常のシルバーアクセサリーには銀純度を表す「SILVER925」などの刻印がありますが、インディアンジュエリーではsterling」という刻印で表す事が多いです。
「sterling silver」とは元々イギリスの銀貨の事を指す意味ですが、1870年頃からインディアンが銀貨を溶かしてジュエリーに使ったので「sterling」と言う刻印が使用されました。
現在では昔と同じ製法で銀貨を溶かして使う作家もいますが、通常のシルバー925材を使っているアーティストもいます。
ネイティブアメリカンの中でインディアンジュエリーを作り始めたのは、実はナバホ族が一番早かったと言われております。
初期の頃は、ただ単にハンマーなどでたたいて加工するものや、カッティングしただけのものが多かったのですが、ハンダづけの技法を覚えてからは、シルバーの上にターコイズの石をセットすることが出来るようになりました。
