INDIAN JEWELRY / NECKLACE 80

全てハンドメイドで作られたインディンアジュエリー。こちらのネックレスはサントドミンゴ族のものになります。
通常のシルバーアクセサリーには銀純度を表す「SILVER925」などの刻印がありますが、インディアンジュエリーではsterling」という刻印で表す事が多いです。
「sterling silver」とは元々イギリスの銀貨の事を指す意味ですが、1870年頃からインディアンが銀貨を溶かしてジュエリーに使ったので「sterling」 と言う刻印が使用されました。
現在では昔と同じ製法で銀貨を溶かして使う作家もいますが、通常のシルバー925材を使っているアーティストもいます。
サントドミンゴ族が制作するジュエリーで最も知られているのはheishi（ヒーシ、ヘイシ）と呼ばれる首飾りです。
これは、小さくカットされたターコイズを糸に通してつなげたものや、カラフルな他の天然石や貝殻と混ぜて繋げたネックレスです。
